OAU Student: Adedoyin, Others Have Case To Answer, Court Rules

Justice Oyebola Ojo of the Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has ruled that the Hilton Hotel owner, Dr Rahmon Adedoyin, and six workers have a case to answer over the death of an MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.

The defendants had filed a No-Case-Submission Application, through their counsel, Yusuf Alli (SAN) told the court at the last sitting that they do not have a case to answer because the prosecution failed to establish any linked them to the crime.

But the prosecutor, M O Omosun opposed the application, he urged the court to order the defendant to open their defence.

In her ruling on Wednesday, Justice Ojo said a prima facie case had been established against all the defendants.

She held, “Evidence before the court states that Timothy lodged in the hotel owned by Adedoyin. Adesola who is the 7th defendant, the receptionist received the lodger.”

The court also held that wife of the deceased spoke to him while in the facility but he could not be reached afterwards by the wife.

She called on the defendants to enter their defence.

The judge has adjourned till April 25 for the opening of defence.
